A luscious St Chinian (south of France) red, a blend of 45% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 15% Carignan and 10% Mourvedre from the impressive Cave de Roquebrun, a co-operative who's head wine maker has been IWSC Red Wine Maker of the Year (pretty much unheard for a co-operative). St Chinian enjoys some elevation compared to the flat plains of much of the Languedoc. This elevation gives a good producer some extra levers (cooler climate, daily temperature range, cool nights etc) that allows him to make wines of greater finesse. This is lovely rich and smooth wine (not too much alcohol at 13.5%), integrated oak and a good streak of minerality. We have been selling this wine for over 10 years. It is a real winner by the glass.
