Domaine La Bastide Saint Dominique is a recent success story in the southern Rhône Valley. The domaine was founded in 1976 and four years later La Bastide produced, bottled and sold their first wine. This Châteauneuf du Pape is made from a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre and 3% Cinsault. On average, the vines used for this wine are close to 50 years of age. They produce a dark, lush, fat, ripe, juicy wine loaded with black cherry, mulberry and spice. The wine is polished, opulent and serves up a long, ripe, fruit filled finish with density, polish and length. This is a really strong wine for the vintage.
