Tempranillo Gran Reserva, Castillo de Calatrava

Surprised with the relatively low ratings that this wine has received. It shows good complexity and density of fruit, standing up to the ageing well. Plum, spice, Earth and cherry on the nose. The palate is medium in acid but almost slightly sweet in contrast, with more black fruit and medium but dry tannin, a bit dusty in mouthfeel. Very pleasant though, opening up well over the course of half an hour.
